“Opal, how much money do you need?”


She twirled her long bangs around with her fingers nervously, “It’s not your problem…”


Silas continued to press her, “Opal, how much money?”


Opal shook her head, “Look, you really don’t want to know!”


Silas became very assertive, “I think you owe me a reason for trying to kill me!”


Opal closed her eyes, “Fifty… thousand.”


Silas’ olive eyes widened in awe, “Fifty THOUSAND?! How in the hells did you manage to accumulate a debt like that?”


“See? You see? I’m not worth all this trouble. Fifty thousand sesterns isn’t worth anyone’s trouble!”, Opal snapped.


Silas wondered how many people even had fifty thousand sesterns. He wondered if anyone in his village, even across their whole lifetime, could have gathered so much money.


“Do you want to tell me how you ended up so much in debt?”


Opal quietly shook her head, “I really don’t want to talk about it.”
